FCT Shield 2025 – Second Match: CS vs ET
The second match of FCT Shield 2025 proved to be a thrilling contest as Team CS faced a must-win encounter against Team ET to keep their hopes of reaching the final alive. ET won the toss and chose to bat first, setting the stage for another high-intensity clash.

The match began with immediate drama. Just like in the opening game, Damindu Prasadith made an early impact, striking in the very first over to dismiss Hiran Ruchiranga. He returned in the third over to remove Udeesha Raveeshan, leaving ET reeling at 17 for 2. Captain Sahan Sudeesha and Hasitha Gunathilaka tried to steady the innings with a cautious approach, but the momentum shifted again in the sixth over. Sahan fell, followed quickly by Chathuruwan Nadeeshana, reducing ET to 35 for 4 in just 5.3 overs.

At this critical juncture, Upekha Serasinghe walked to the crease and completely changed the course of the game. With fearless intent, he launched a breathtaking counterattack, clearing the ropes repeatedly and scoring almost entirely in sixes. His explosive innings of 36 off just 18 balls propelled ET to a competitive total of 91 for 4 after 10 overs.

Chasing the target, CS suffered an early blow as Roshan Tharindu struck twice in the first over, removing both openers and leaving the team at 2 for 2. Shehan Suraweera and Sandun Amantha produced a strong recovery, putting together a 48-run partnership that brought CS back into contention.

However, the match swung once more in ET’s favor during the sixth over when Sandun Amantha was dismissed by Heshan Nikethana. ET’s bowlers maintained discipline and control, restricting CS’s batting lineup and preventing any late surge. CS ultimately finished at 84 for 6 in 10 overs, falling short by 7 runs.

ET’s victory was powered by Upekha Serasinghe’s explosive innings and disciplined bowling performances from Roshan Tharindu (2 for 17), Heshan Nikethana, and Hasitha Gunathilaka. Shehan Suraweera top-scored for CS with 44 off 34 balls, while Sandun Amantha added 13 off 11. This result confirmed CS’s exit from the tournament, while ET kept their campaign alive with a hard-fought win.
